Looking for a Healthy Fall Treat for the kids? I have one for you. How about a Turkey Treat made with Apples a Peanut Butter Dip and a few extra surprises tossed in? Not only are they adorable they are Super EASY to create and I am going to show you how.

Last night I put together these Fun Turkey Treats for the kids while I battled a killer headache and I think they came out amazing. How do I know? because the kids Gobbled them down to the very bottom and LOVED them.

Now this idea is not entirely mine – I had seen something similar done out there, but they used a cupcake where my Peanut Butter was. I wanted to ditch the Cupcake for this one and put my own Healthy Twist on it so that is what I did. Yes I actually made a Healthy Treat – it was a nice change I must say (lol).

These Healthy Turkey Treats were so EASY to make and they would be a great appetizer for the kids on Thanksgiving or even a fun edible activity for a Fall Party, Classroom or for the Girl/Boy Scouts. Just be sure no one has Peanut allergies prior to planning this one – that would not be good (lol).

Here is what I used to create my Healthy Turkey Treats:

  • Green and Red Apples
  • Green Grapes
  • Orange Gumdrop Slices
  • Black Decorator Gel
  • Red Licorice (Pull apart)
  • Peanut Butter – I used Skippy – just sayin’
  • Ritz Crackers
  • Wilton’s White Ruffled Baking Cups
  • Brown Crayon

Now watch as I show you how these Healthy Turkeys are built – EASY EASY EASY….

First let me say that originally I was in search of Cupcake Liners in Brown, but I could not find any anywhere so I had to improvise. I ended up buying a pack of Wilton’s White Ruffled Baking Cups. I took a Brown Crayon and colored the Cups – I did the outside and the inside walls. It worked out great in the end, but if you have Brown Cupcake Liners or anything in a fall color that would work just fine. Then I gathered all my supplies. The Red Licorice is not shown in the photo because that was a last minute add and also the Icing shown in the photo was changed out in the end to a Black Decorators Gel.  Now onto the fun part….

So here is all you do… First I sliced up my Apples.  Then I placed 4 Ritz Crackers on the bottom of my Baking Cups. This was an extra surprise under the Peanut Butter and it also raised the height up so you did not have to add so much. You can put any special treat on the bottom, but my kids love Ritz Crackers with Peanut Butter so it worked.

Next stick in your Apple Slices that resemble the Turkey Feathers towards the back.  Next I cut Triangles from my Orange Gummy Slices and stuck them on the the grapes for beaks.

I added two eyes using Black Decorators Gel. For the Waddle I just took a small piece of Red Licorice (pull apart kind) and stuck it to the side of the beak. That was a last minute add on – it just needed that special touch.

That is It !!! How EASY and Cute are they?

I also saved any Apple Slices I had left over and had them on a plate for the kids to eat with any remaining Peanut Butter they had for dipping.

It was time to call in the kids for some snacks….

The girls gave them 2 Thumbs Up and ate every last bit – My son loved it too, but he hates when I share his picture (even though I do time to time – lol).

If you give this idea a try be sure to share your photos with me – I would love to see them !!!

Enjoy !!!

These are so cute! I wish I’d have time before our preschool “feast” to make them. I’m afraid the apples would turn brown if I tried to make them too far ahead. I’ll be sure to keep them in mind for other events though.
