Chinese sweet n sour chicken recipeIf you are looking for a delicious party recipe that will please both the kids and the adults then you will love this Chinese Sweet n Sour Chicken. It is very EASY to make and tastes just like the Sweet n Sour Chicken you get at the Chinese restaurant.

Kids LOVE Sweet n Sour Chicken and my kids loved this recipe so much when I made it especially my daughter. It has the perfect amount of sweetness and the chicken comes out very tender. While it is a little time consuming to make the end result is worth the time. I think this is a perfect meal to serve up at a party for the kids vs. just baking up chicken nuggets.

Here is what you will need to make this Sweet n Sour Chicken:

Chicken Breading:

  • 3-5 Chicken Breasts
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 Cup Cornstarch
  • 2 Eggs – Beaten
  • 1/3 Cup Canola Oil

Rinse your chicken and trim off all the fat. Then cut the chicken into 1 inch cubes. Season that with Salt and Pepper. Next dip the chicken into the cornstarch coating well and then dip that into the eggs. I think this is the part that takes the longest. Heat Oil in your skillet and cook the chicken in that until nice and browned. Then place your cooked chicken into a 9×13 inch baking dish.

For the Sauce:

  • 3/4 Cup of Sugar
  • 4 Tbsp Ketchup
  • 1/2 Cup White Distilled Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Garlic Salt

Whisk that up in a bowl until smooth. Then pour that over your chicken in your baking dish. Turn the chicken so it all gets coated with the sauce. Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes, then then the chicken and cook for about another 15 minutes.

You can serve it over Fried or White Rice, but my kids and hubby liked it just alone. I am telling ya this is sooooo yummy!!!

Can you fry the chicken in vegetable oil instead of canola oil?
