Hidden Heart CakeThere is nothing more fun then cutting a cake to find a surprise inside and this Hidden Heart Cake has just that. You are going to be amazed at just how EASY this is to make and I am going to show you.

I want to take credit for this creation, but I cannot, I have to give it all to my Sista Peep who baked this one up. BUT lucky for all of you she knows when she makes something that may be blog worthy to photograph the steps so I can share.

I guess you can say she works for me from time to time – Bonus for all of us – you get a great tutorial and I get dessert, lol

This Hidden Heart Cake is definitely great for a Valentine’s Day Party or even just a fun dessert for the kids, spouse or really anyone for any occasion. The best part is that you can use this same method to create different shapes for other holidays too – once you see the tutorial your creative wheels will start turning, trust me.

Here is what was used to make this Hidden Heart Cake:

  • 1 Box of White Cake Mix
  • Red Food Coloring Gel
  • Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
  • Powdered Sugar (Optional)
  • Loaf Pan

Now look at how EASY this is to do….

Hidden Heart Cake 1

Start with following the direction on mixing the cake mix. Then split the batter in half . Next take 1/2 the batter and dye it red. Set the non dyed batter aside for now.

Next spray your Loaf Pan with cooking spray.

Pour in your Red Batter and bake in the oven at 350 for approx. 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Once baked take it out of the pan and let cool.

Then cut the Red Loaf in half.

Next take your Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter and cut out some hearts – do them every other way to get more. The scraps – well they are yours to snack on – yup a treat just for you.

Next spray your Loaf Pan again and then take your white batter and place some in the bottom of the pan and some on the sides – helps to work as a glue to hold the heart shapes in place.

Then take your cut out hearts and line then in the bottom of the pan curved side down as shown in the picture.

Now take the rest of your white batter and pour it in over the hearts.

Stick that baby in the oven at 350 for approx. 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Let it cool

Slice that SWEETness and see the love hiding inside – sprinkle on some Powdered Sugar, grab a big glass of cold milk and enjoy!! You can also frost it too – choice is yours.

Is that EASY or what? Is your head going crazy with other shapes you can hide inside?  I know mine is and trust me I will be making them, or maybe I will just have my Sista Peep do it and I will just eat it!!

So who will you surprise with this cake?
