Thanks for all the great idea starters! We just had a Michael Jackson themed birthday party for our 9 year old daughter and had a great time! Some cool ideas that someone might like to use for a party of this nature are playing a variation of the “hot potato” game using the song Beat It. The kids used a microphone to pass around while the song played. When the music stopped, the one with the mic had to be out and got a set of rhythm sticks that they kept the “BEAT” with until everyone was out playing the beat with the sticks along to the music minus the winner! We also played a Limbo game with the song “Shake Your Body Down To The Ground” and the kids limboed while shaking their bodies lower and lower to the ground! A really cool thing we also did was take MJ’s song, Heal the World, and played the video on a big screen and then had the kids make hygiene kits to give to a national charity who then took them to give to victims of the earthquake in Haiti. We played another game (4 Corners) using more music and MJ posters as the corner spot identification, had a one of a kind cake made decorated with Michael Jackson’s hat and glove on the cake top. Lots of fun music party decorations to add to the posters and music to round off the event! Made a big hit with the parents too who got into singing and dancing with the music of their teens or childhood!
