Minecraft CakeMy son loves Red Velvet Cake and for his birthday I tried a new recipe that I have to share with you all because not only was it EASY to make it was delicious!!!

The Minecraft Creeper image I added on the top of his cake because he is a HUGE fan of the Minecraft Game and the cake was too naked and needed a little something. My son turned 15 this year and he asked me not to go all crazy with decorating his cake – I guess it is uncool, lol. Well come on how could I serve him up a cake so plain – I just could not do it. I kept it simple and in the end he loved it!!!

But this cake is not just about the Creeper, it is about how yummy it was and here is the recipe so you can try it too!!

Red Velvet Cake Recipe:

  • 1 Box Red Velvet Cake Mix
  • 1 Package of Instant Chocolate Pudding
  • 1 Cup Sour Cream (full fat kind folks – do NOT skimp)
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Oil

Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe:

  • 2 (8 ounce) Packages of Cream Cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 Cup Butter (softened)
  • 3 – 4 Cups of Confectioners Sugar (I used 3)
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla

Directions for the Cake:

Preheat your oven to 350.

In your mixing bowl add all of your ingredients. Blend them all up on low speed until lightly blended. Then turn up the speed on your mixture for about 1 minute, but don’t over beat.

Pour your batter into your sprayed cake pans and bake for approx. 30+ minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let your cake cool completely before frosting.

Directions for the Frosting:

Using your mixer blend together the Cream Cheese and Butter until it is nice and smooth with no lumps.

Add in your Vanilla and the your Confectioners Sugar one cup at a time. I used only 3 cups in mine, but if you like it very sweet you can add more in.

Then go ahead and frost your cake!!!

***For the Minecraft Creeper all I did was take some of the frosting, add green food coloring gel and frost on a green square. Then I took some more of the frosting added black food coloring gel – I piped on the outline for the Creeper Face and then filled it in – so EASY.***

Creeper Cake 2

This Creeper was destroyed quickly !!!

The Red Velvet Cake was so moist and the frosting was perfect. We give this recipe 2 thumbs up and highly recommend it to all.

Creeper Cake

Happy Birthday to my son!!! Love this kid!!
