I have to share with you this Quick & EASY America Flag Cake I made many years ago for my 4th of July Party. This is a great idea that can be made in a pinch – who does not love that?

So I was going through some old pictures recently and found this one of an American Flag Cake I made for one of my 4th of July Parties many years ago. You have probably seen Flag Cake made with Strawberries and Blueberries, but this one I did with candy I had on hand to create the same design of the flag, but in minutes.

If I remember correctly the cake I made was a Jell-O Poke Cake – which is light and delicious in the summer time.

Here is the recipe for the Jell-O Poke Cake:

  • 1 Package of White Cake Mix
  • 1 Cup Boiling Water
  • 1 Package (3 ounce) Strawberry Jell-O
  • 1/2 Cup Cold Water
  • 1 Tub Cool Whip

Prepare cake according to package and bake in a 13″ x 9′” Dish and let cool. Once cool take a fork and poke holes all in the cake.

In a bowl combine your Jell-O with the boiling water until dissolved and then add in your cold water and mix.

Then just pour that over the top of your cake and then stick in the fridge to set for about 3 hours.

Once set cover the top of your cake with the Cool Whip and stick back in the fridge for about an hour or so.

Next time to decorate…..

All I used were some Blue Raspberry Gummy Candies and Strawberry Twizzlers – that is it !!

I laid them on top of the cake and I had a flag.

OK so my cake is not as healthy as those with the fresh fruit, but the kids did not mind at all – lol
