How to make Easter Basket Cupcakes

I had seen these Adorable Easter Basket Cupcakes made before, but had never made them myself. So I figured I would give them a try and share Step by Step just how EASY they are to create.  They really are easy and I think they look so cute and would be perfect for your Easter Party and the kids really do enjoy eating them. Actually get the kids to help make them for a fun Easter Activity.

So as always I documented the steps while I made them so you can get inspired to make your own.  You are going to walk through with me as I made them for the first time.

So here is what I used to make the Easter Basket Cupcakes:

  • Cupcakes of course. – I used Chocolate, but any flavor you like would work
  • White or Vanilla Frosting
  • Colored Licorice – For Basket Handles
  • Coconut – For the Grass
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Ziploc Baggie or any Baggie
  • Jelly Beans – Any

So here are the goodies needed. You can buy Licorice in Rainbow Colors for the Basket Handles- you can use any colors you like, but the Bright Rainbow Colored Licorice really screams Springtime. Then of course you will need some Jelly Beans to represent the Eggs in your Easter Basket.  Any Jelly Beans would do – I had actually found these really cool Pastel colored ones I liked. The colors were different so I used them.

Start by making your Edible Easter Grass. To do this take your Coconut and place into a Ziploc or any Baggie. Then add a few drops of Green Food Coloring. Shake it up really well. Then you have some Grass!!!

Then take a piece of the Licorice and cut the ends on an angle. This helps give you a point and makes sticking it into the Cupcake much easier. Frost your Cupcakes and then dip the top into the Coconut Grass. Make sure to do this right after you frost the Cupcake so the Frosting is still tacky and the grass will stick better. Then take your Licorice Handle and stick it into your Cupcake. So far so EASY.

Now place your Jelly Beans onto the grass below the handles and you have a Perfectly Adorable Edible Easter Basket Cupcake that will bring smiles to all the kids faces.

Then stick them on a plate with some of the leftover Grass and add some Circus Peanut Carrots for a Festive look. You can learn how to make the Circus Peanuts Carrots:  HERE.  The are also extremely easy to make, Edible and the Kids love to eat them. So add some Easter Basket Cupcakes to your Easter Party now that you know just how EASY they really are to make.

I made a cake version of these this week, these look much simpler, and fun for kids to make, maybe I’ll do cupcakes next time!

  2. Did you Blog it yet? Would love to see it.
